The annual UK AD & World Biogas Expo takes place on July 3rd and 4th at NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham, UK. The exhibition is co-organised by the UK’s Anaerobic Digestion & Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA).

2019’s programme features five themed panels: food, waste and water; among the plethora of topics, separate food waste collections, how the UK government will regulate the latter in accordance with the TEEP and the role for wastewater in the circular bio-economy will be discussed.

The second panel is called “Circular cities”, in which the future of green gas in the UK, the need for a (possible) national strategy and the growth of small scale and Micro-AD market will be put at the centre. In addition, IVECO will take the stage on July 4th, providing its circular economy model; explaining how IVECO is not only assisting in decarbonizing transportation, but also improving the circular economy whilst delivering benefits to commercial vehicles’ operations.

“Future farming” is the third panel of UK AD & World Biogas Expo. The programme includes numerous sessions, for instance, the future of On-Farm anaerobic digestion, best practices in optimising the use and distribution of digestate, moving to methane for energy independence and a detailed study on different types of AD plants.

The “Innovation Hub” aims to promote the analysis and dissemination of new advances in science and best practice in anaerobic digestion for new developments in the industry. In this panel, you will be offered the opportunity to discuss the new developments explained in papers authors have published about biogas productivity. Finally, in the “Engine Room”, you will find tips about plant optimisation; for instance, how to prevent and cure gritting, how to manage fugitive methane emissions and the importance of process data monitoring.

The exhibition offers a unique combination of industry insight, innovation and investment opportunities - for both the UK and international markets. The UK AD and World Biogas Expo has to be considered one of the largest international show focused on AD and biogas only.

A plethora of topics will be covered, too:  from UK farming to world mega-cities, from local waste and water management to global energy generation and transport.

Indeed, and without any doubt, the Expo offers the visitors the possibility to learn, showcase, and do business.

Very eminent speakers will perform at the World Biogas Summit; for instance, Niclas Svenningsen of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Dr Joana Portugal, Senior Scientist at the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and David Newman (ISWA - International Solid Waste Association), who will be launching a major World Biogas Association report on the Global Potential of Biogas.

Moreover, in 2019’s year edition introduces the official event’s app, which can be downloaded on the App Store and Google Play (simply type "Biogas Expo" in the search bar). The exhibition’s app is meant to be as an initiative towards reducing the number of printed Event Guides at this year’s event. The App is designed to provide the most up to date information about what’s happening each day, helping to connect and schedule meetings with other attendees at the event.
