Ultime Notizie
The day dedicated to Earth was established in the United States in 1970. The annual event gathers millions of people around the world to show their support to the environment and to highlight the urgent actions to be taken to save our planet.
Recent data show that CO2 emissions are once again above pre-pandemic levels. However, to keep global warming within 1.5°C, we need to drastically reduce emissions by 45% by 2030. World Earth Day is an annual event that sheds light on the most urgent ecological issues, for example, climate crisis, air pollution and deforestation. On Earth Day 2021, USA President Joe Biden invited 40 world leaders to attend a virtual summit on April 22nd-23rd, to highlight the need for action.
Parallel to the Biden Administration’s global climate summit, Earthday.org will have its second Earth Day Live digital event, right here. The global show begins at 12 PM Eastern Time, and you can follow it here. Workshops, panel discussions, and special performances will focus on Restore Our Earth™ — covering natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking to restore the world’s ecosystems.
More topics will include:
- Climate and environmental literacy;
- Climate restoration technologies;
- Reforestation efforts;
- Regenerative agriculture;
- Equity and environmental justice;
- Citizen science;
- Cleanups, and more.
World climate leaders, activists, nonprofit innovators, artists, musicians and influencers will join the global digital live event. "We all need a healthy Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health & survival, and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity. More than 1 billion people in 192 countries now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. Today, we invite you to be a part of Earth Day and to help further climate action across the globe." states Earthday.org on the official website.
